I now have three examples. One, classic rifle green, while the other two appear more blue to my eye. I sourced the first two in Northern Ireland, but the latest is a real gem I got off eBay. As can be seen, the Helmet is named to George Francis Kirkland and contains his date of joining the RIC, 4th January 1915 and with the service number of 68408. He was stationed in Kildare and later at the Depot. He was disbanded on 20th July 1922.
The other service number, 68022, was for Edmund Butler of Kilkenny who joined the RIC on 10th September 2014, but was judged unfit by the Force Surgeon and discharged a mere two days later.
